Overview
EPFL was founded in 1969 and is one of two Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology, the other being ETH Zurich. It is situated on the shores of Lake Geneva (Lac Léman), providing a picturesque and serene setting for academic and research activities. The EPFL campus is known for its modern architecture and state-of-the-art facilities. The Rolex Learning Center, a distinctive building designed by the famous architects Herzog & de Meuron, serves as a central hub for students and researchers.
EPFL's School of Computer and Communication Sciences (IC) is one of the university's most prominent departments. Some notable alumni include Pierre-Yves Oudeyer - a renowned researcher in the field of artificial intelligence and robotics, and Carmela Troncoso - a computer scientist known for her research in privacy-preserving technologies
