The University of Stanford was founded in 1885 by a former Governor of California and his wife in honour of their daughter, who had passed. The university covers 8180 acres of land, which is over 6186 football fields. The university is in the Silicon Valley, a region that has many high-tech and innovation-run industries.

Stanford University has some notable alumni, including Larry Page and Sergey Brin (co-founders of Google), Reed Hastings (co-founder of Netflix), and former U.S. Presidents Herbert Hoover and John F. Kennedy.
