Overview
The University of Queensland (UQ) was established in 1909 in Brisbane, Australia. The university has many famous alumni, including a Nobel Prize winner - Pr. Peter Doherty and an Academy Award winner. Some famous alumni from the University of Queensland include Julia Gillard, a former Prime Minister of Australia. Former Governor-General of Australia Quentin Bryce also graduated from the UQ.
The University of Queensland is the founding member of the Group of Eight - major national Australian universities that conduct a significant amount of research.
