The University of Montreal (Université de Montréal) was founded in 1878 as a French-language institution. It is one of the largest French-language universities in the world. The university has multiple campuses across Montreal. The main campus, located on the northern slope of Mount Royal, is the largest and most prominent.
The University of Montreal is known for its world-class computer science and AI research. It is closely associated with several research centers and institutes dedicated to these fields, including the Montreal Institute for Learning Algorithms (MILA) and the Institute for Data Valorization (IVADO).
