Overview
Vilnius University was founded in 1579 by King Stephen Bathory of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania, and it is one of the oldest universities in Central and Eastern Europe. The university's historical campus is situated in the heart of the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
While most programs are offered in Lithuanian, there are also several programs taught in English, making it accessible to international students.
Some notable alumni include a prominent mathematician Jonas Kubilius, was known for his contributions to number theory and probability theory. He served as the rector of Vilnius University and held various academic positions.
