Trump supporters and Cybertruck haters unite over Elon Musk’s recent post

Elon Musk, who’s notorious for ripping off other creators' content, recently posted a picture of an artificially generated Cybertruck. The image has garnered attention from a variety of groups on his platform X.

The post, which has been seen almost 64 million times, reposted 45 thousand times, and liked 18 thousand times, has gathered a lot of attention from various communities.

The image shows a Cybertruck on what appears to be a dystopian Japanese street. The image is obviously generated using artificial intelligence (AI) and is very cyberpunk-esque in style.

Next to the Cybertruck is a “Tesla” sign with the words “Meto” underneath. Musk gave no context surrounding the picture as the post is captionless.

In typical Musk fashion, this isn’t actually his original image. He has ripped off another user, ‘abuha_auto_trade,’ who originally posted the image on Instagram.

What might be more interesting than the post itself is the thread that comes with it.

This thread reveals users' sentiments surrounding the image and their preoccupation with current events, specifically the shooting of Donald Trump on July 13th, 2024, at his rally in Pennsylvania.

One user posted a collage of the image of the AI-generated Cybertruck with the now iconic picture of Trump with his fist in the air, blood on his face, and the American flag swaying in the background. The caption reads: “Both of these things are bulletproof.”

Following the attack on Trump, there has been an uptick in support for the former president on platforms like X. One user posted a video in response to Musk’s post of a “Trump 2024” branded Cybertruck cruising through the streets.

The support for Trump on X comes as no surprise as the platform’s owner spoke out after the attack, claiming to endorse Trump and wishing him well after the ordeal.

During Trump’s presidential campaign, the business tycoon turned politician even promised Musk a seat in the Oval Office as a policy advisor if elected. Musk’s alliance with Trump hasn’t gone unnoticed, and fans of the two can be seen in the tech mogul's latest post.

One user with the handle ‘NobodyLikesKamala,’ referring to the current Vice President Kamala Harris, posted a meme of Trump within the thread.

The user has rehashed the image of Trump after he was shot at the rally, and the text within the picture says, “Impeached. Arrested. Convicted. Shot. Still Standing.”

Alongside the pro-Trump fan club, users have shown their love for the Cybertruck. However, with Cybertruck lovers come Cybertruck haters who are in the thread purely to dunk on Tesla’s design.

One user compared the Cybertruck to a silver trash can, captioning the post: Sorry.

These haters post more meme-worthy clips of the Cybertruck getting stuck in the mud, captioning them, “Expensive car but nothing.”

Further demonstrating the polarizing and dichotomous nature of Musk’s comment section.
