iOS 18 beta is out, but it’s lacking one of its main features

Apple users can now test the iOS 18 beta version and tell you what the fuss is all about.

Apple has released iOS 18 beta for testing before the main software launch in the fall – when the company will also introduce its newest iPhone model.

One of the company's main announcements during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference 2024 was Apple Intelligence with ChatGPT integration.

However, the new AI assistant won’t be available in the public beta test. Previously, the company explained that Apple AI will only run on its newer devices, which are iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The reason behind this is that the latest iPhone versions are equipped with an Apple A17 Pro chip that can handle the load of AI tasks.

Although Apple Intelligence won’t be a part of the beta test, the new software update will provide its users with other features.

These features include a customizable lock and home screen, as well as a Control Center. For example, users will be able to put app icons anywhere on the home screen and change their color.

The new update will also bring a redesigned Photos app. With the help of AI, photos can now be organized into albums.

In Messages, users can mark their text in bold or italics, react to messages with emojis, and send out a text via satellite when there’s no cellular or Wi-Fi connection.

To test out the iOS 18 beta version, users have to sign up for Apple’s Beta Software Program. The new software works on iPhone models that are from 2018 and later.
