Apple Maps is now ready to provide Tokyo residents with the latest traffic updates.
Apple users in Tokyo, Japan, will have the possibility to check real-time data when it comes to information related to bus, rail, and tram schedules.
The new update will show recent traffic information on more than 20 railway, tram, and bus lines.
“Real-time traffic updates in Maps allow users to view detailed schedules, real-time departure and arrival times, and route connections to help plan their trips,” shares Apple.
The application will also provide information on transportation delays or cancellations. Users will be able to see the details when they plan their route.
To get this real-time transit data, users aren’t required to update their software.
The company also announced that, with the upcoming iOS 18 update, users in Japan will “be able to explore beautiful topographical maps with contour lines, relief shading, hiking trails, and more on their iPhone.”
The release of the feature has been rather gradual with Sweden, the Netherlands, the UK, Canada, Australia, and China getting real-time traffic updates back in 2020.
