Apple conducting studies to learn what people like about smart glasses

An internal study at Apple suggests that the company plans on entering a new product category – smart glasses.

While this isn't something completely new for Apple, which released its Vision Pro headset at the beginning of 2024, the company is working towards creating a more affordable version of the device.

According to Bloomberg, the project, code-named Atlas, is already in the works and involves taking feedback on smart glasses from Apple employees.

It's common for the company to gather a focus group every time it's about to launch a new category. The research helps Apple understand what people like about products already on the market.

Apple tends to rely on its employees rather than customers for feedback to avoid the risk of its plans being leaked to the public.

Despite the company launching its much-awaited headset, it didn't gain much traction, considering that it costs $3499 in the US.

Apple's future product could help improve the situation if the company decides to hop on the smart glasses train, which already has Meta's Ray-Bans on board.

It has been reported that Apple could be working on something similar – a lighter device that could replace an iPhone, would have a longer battery life, and improved sensors and audio technology.

Apple has also recently been working on technology that could detect prediabetes and prevent those who have it from developing diabetes. The new feature is expected to be integrated into the company's future devices.
