Future iPhones may be equipped with batteries that are easier to remove and repair.
The iPhone 17 is expected to come with a new battery adhesive that makes it easier to detach a battery when applying the correct electrical current.
This method of removing a battery electronically already works with the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. Not, however, for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max.
It’s expected that all four models of the future iPhone 17 will be equipped with the adhesive, reports leaker Majin Bu Official.
They shared images showing the adhesive in four different sizes, hinting that the whole iPhone 17 series may come with an electrical battery removal.
From the information I have been able to get, it looks like the entire iPhone 17 series will feature new battery adhesives and will use electrically induced adhesive peel technology.

This new adhesive should help remove the battery with less force, by applying a small electrical voltage.
While the news hasn’t been confirmed, there’s a chance that Apple will implement the battery removal to make its products more repairable and, thus, more sustainable. Especially having in mind the company’s promise to become 100% carbon neutral by 2030.
After the launch of the iPhone 16, the company was quick to increase the price of battery replacement for smartphones with an expired warranty, including its latest phone. Nevertheless, this doesn’t affect those that are under Apple’s Care+ plan.
