After the release of Kindle's first colored e-reader, not all users are happy with their purchase.
Amazon’s Kindle announced its new and upgraded devices last month, including its first-ever color e-reader – the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition.
Amazon announced that the new devices should reach buyers by the end of October.
Now that users have had the chance to try the color e-reader, many have complained about the faulty display, which shows a discolored band at the bottom.
"This is definitely a bummer. Mine has it but is very faint and only really noticeable for me at maximum brightness and if I turn the Kindle upside down," shared one Reddit user, who also revealed that after talking to a representative who said that the device is "supposed to patch in 48-72 hours."
While it's not officially known what might've caused the flaw, the problem could be related to the device's software.
“[...] The yellow bothered me more than it probably should have. But for the price I paid, I want to be 100% happy with it. My Kindle basic was like $70 and I can accept its flaws at that price, but nearly $300 is a lot," shared another Reddit user.
Amazon's latest e-reader, priced at $279.99, now has a 2.6 rating out of 5. According to the Verge, users who experience a problem with their e-reader are encouraged to contact Amazon customer support.
"I think it's safe to officially call this release a disaster. I know they're absolutely scrambling at Kindle headquarters. They're straight up calling people who leave bad reviews," shared one Reddit user in the thread, discussing how the company might be dealing with negative reviews.
According to an Amazon representative, “a small number of customers have reported a yellow band along the bottom of the display.”
The users who face this problem should contact customer service for a replacement or a refund. They can use their current device until a replacement has arrived.
The company says it's working on the issue so that it won’t happen again to new devices.
Because of this, “you might see shifts in availability dates as we implement these changes. We’re working quickly to get new and replacement devices to customers,” said the Amazon representative.
