Chinese smartphone maker Huawei has announced an event for next Tuesday, the day after Apple’s iPhone 16 launch. The company is expected to launch its first triple foldable smartphone, among other things, at the event.
The company announced the launch via a post on the Chinese social network Weibo. While it didn’t directly confirm the smartphone's release, a teaser image shows the shapes of a tri-folding device.
In a subsequent post, the company referred to the new device as ‘Mate XT.’
In addition to the foldable, Huawei is also expected to launch a new version of its Aito electric vehicle and a new version of its smartwatch.
Few details are known about Huawei’s upcoming smartphone. Previously, Richard Yu, Huawei’s CEO, was spotted using the device publicly. However, this didn’t clarify much besides its outside appearance.

The company plans to launch the smartphone in China first and then expand from there.
Some rumors suggest that Huawei’s smartphone will feature a 10-inch screen and that its starting price may be around $2700.
Last week, Chinese company Tecno unveiled its tri-fold prototype, the Phantom Ultimate 2. However, the company didn’t specify when or even if the device will eventually reach the market.
