Users can hide apps and manage passwords with the latest iOS update.
Apple released iOS 18 on Monday, its most significant iPhone software update of the year.
The updated OS includes more customization, a redesigned photo app, and more efficient ways to communicate with other users.
A few new tools are aimed at bringing more control over users' privacy and security.
With iOS 18, Apple has introduced a new Password app, built on the foundation of Keychain.
Now, users will be able to manage all of their credentials, such as passwords, passcodes, and verification codes, in one place. All the passwords will be encrypted and synced across devices.
The new app will also alert users when a password should be strengthened, has been used multiple times, or has been involved in a data leak.
Another privacy-oriented tool of iOS 18 is the ability to manage who can see users' apps and the data of selected apps.
Locking apps will ensure that their content will not inadvertently be seen by other users while hiding apps and moving them to a hidden location will make them disappear from the screen.
When apps are locked or hidden, content like messages or emails is hidden from search and other places across the system.
In addition, iOS 18 allows users to share only specific contacts with an app. If a person uses the app for work-related purposes, he or she can decide to share only work-related contacts.
According to Apple, developers with the new OS can offer a more seamless and private experience when connecting third-party accessories withan iPhone.
Those who haven’t enabled automatic updates on their devices can install iOS 18 by going to Settings, selecting General, and selecting Software Update.
