RingConn’s second smart ring looks set to break a record on Kickstarter

The maker calls its ring the thinnest and the lightest and promises up to 12 days of battery life.

The launch of the first version of RingConn’s smart ring in 2023 placed the company among the most well-known smart ring makers. The Chinese company, headquartered in the US, offered various tracking features for a slightly lower price than most competitors, including Oura.

On August 1st, RingConn launched a Kickstarter campaign for its second version of the ring, and users are responding well to it. At the time of publication, RingConn has already received $1.8 million on Kickstarter from around 8,000 backers with 39 days still to go.

The current most crowdfunded smart ring, Velia, received just over $2 million in funding from 8,400 backers on Indiegogo last year.

According to RingConn, its second-gen ring will be the lightest smart ring on the market, measuring 2mm thick and weighing just two grams, though some of the bigger versions will exceed those marketed numbers.

The wearable will be equipped with temperature sensors, 3D accelerometers, and photoplethysmography sensors, which will allow it to measure heart rate metrics and oxygen levels.

In addition, the ring will leverage AI to provide insights such as nighttime breathing patterns and respiratory variations.

The maker claims that the wearable’s unspecified capacity battery will last 10-12 days, which is double that of the previous version. Meanwhile, the cumulative amount of energy in the fully charged 500 mAh case will exceed 150 days without the need to charge the wearable.

The ring will be available in nine sizes and is IP68-certified for water and dust resistance.

RingConn is now selling its ring for $209 and plans to start shipments in late September.
