Samsung’s future tablet could become Apple iPad competitor

Samsung may be creating a new generation tablet to rival Apple’s iPad.

According to the patent issued in July, the new tablet could be enlarged by pulling it from both sides. The new device would be convenient for those who enjoy working or playing on a larger screen.

The possibility of Samsung Electronics releasing an expandable tablet comes after the company issued a patent application called “Method for controlling flexible display, and electronic device,” first noted by Patently Apple.

The expandable tablet isn’t quite a new revelation. In 2022, during the Intel Innovation event, the Samsung Display CEO revealed a prototype of an expandable tablet that would go from 13 to 17 inches. With the help of a button, the “slidable” tablet, equipped with an OLED panel, would increase in size from one side of the screen.

According to the recently published patent, the new Samsung tablet would have a processor, a flexible screen, and two rollers that would allow the screen to extend in opposite directions.

Just last week, during Samsung’s Unpacked event, the company released a line of new products that include two smartphones, two smartwatches, and the long-awaited Samsung Galaxy Ring.
