When Texas residents try to access these sites, they are greeted with a message highlighting the new law's implications.

The message emphasizes Pornhub’s position, arguing that this law infringes on the right to free speech and fails to protect minors effectively. Furthermore, it raises concerns about the privacy risks associated with mandatory identification, particularly for minors.

SpankBang in Texas

SpankBang is a prominent adult video content platform that offers a vast selection of free pornographic videos and adult films. With an extensive library, SpankBang is considered one of the more significant porn sites online.

However, since the passing of the porn ban bill, it has changed the way it operates in Texas. Previously, SpankBang redirected Texas users to a sister website, LiveJasmin, but recently, this has changed to users having to verify their age.

You may also find that xHamster is not available in some places due to the new age verification laws that have been passed in the US. xHamster has followed suit and implemented the age verification process for residents in Texas, like many other porn sites.

In fact, Hammy Media – a pornography company that operates xHamster – faced legal issues in March 2024 due to not implementing age verification processes and allowing residents from Texas to visit the porn site freely. Eventually, xHamster caved in, and age verification was introduced.

Upon visiting the xHamster page, users see a warning message requesting age verification using 3 methods.

Stripchat is yet another prominent international adult website that specializes in live-streamed webcam performances. Launched in 2016, it has rapidly grown to average over 400 million visitors monthly, making it one of the leading platforms in the adult entertainment industry.

For residents in Texas, Stripchat allows access to the website itself, which shows blurred thumbnails of live streams and usernames of content creators. Visitors can also browse different categories that contain explicit wording. There’s a disclaimer that visitors must verify their age to unlock the adult content.

After logging into Stripchat, you are prompted to verify your age.

Unfortunately, it is very common for adult sites, like PornHub, to think that you’re located in Texas. This happens if you’re in some of the neighboring States or if you use a weaker VPN provider that connects you to a Texas IP address.

For example, if you are in one of the Texas neighboring states like Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, or New Mexico, chances are that you’ll be seen as using Pornhub in Texas when you’re actually not. On April 16th, the adult entertainment industry trade group, along with Free Speech Coalition and other applicants appealed to the Supreme Court, citing that the strict age verification law violates the First Amendment rights. Among the applicants is a subsidiary of Pornhub's parent company. However, the appeal was denied on April 30th by the Supreme Court of the United States.
