At the premiere of the new Netflix movie “Atlas,” the actress warned about the dangers of AI.
“I think this movie does a good job of showing how AI could go incredibly wrong, and this is how it could go really right,” Jennifer Lopez told entertainment magazine Variety at the new Netflix sci-fi movie “Atlas” premiere in Los Angeles. The film’s protagonist, played by the star, turns to AI for help in a quest to save the Earth from robots going rogue.
Lopez believes that manipulating generative AI is cause for concern. Ads for skincare that she knows nothing about use manipulated photos of her face covered in wrinkles. “It’s really scary,” she said, adding, “Right away, we had them stealing our faces. So, yes, AI is really scary.”
“I think you should be respectful of AI…We have to be open to all possibilities. These movies that are talking about AI – especially this one – do a really good job of showing both sides.”
While “Atlas” is already the number one movie in the US and the United Kingdom; the movie’s review by Cybernews points out the rather unconvincing plot. “AI might have written this one,” writes Gintaras Radauskas, a senior journalist.
However, despite the shallow plot, Netflix seems to know what they are doing, as the movie is climbing in popularity.
