Fast Company shut down its website after hackers sent two obscene push notifications to Apple News users.

Hacker breached the American financial news publication Fast News, sending two racist push notifications on the Apple News platform. As a result, the company has shut down its website.

“Fast Company’s content management system was hacked on Tuesday evening. As a result, two obscene and racist push notifications were sent to our followers in Apple News about a minute apart,” the company said in a statement.

Apple News posted a statement on Twitter, acknowledging the event and adding that Fast Company’s channel was disabled.

Fast Company claims that the hack is related to another incident that took place on Sunday when similar language appeared on the website. To prevent further, the company decided to shut down its website.

Users trying to access the website are greeted with a 404 message. Even though the website is shut down, a Google search for ‘Fast Company’ leads to a message written by threat actors while still inside the company’s content management system.

The message states that the site was hacked due to lax security and an easy-to-guess password used on a dozen of admin accounts. Threat actors lamented Fast Company’s security practices in the original message that’s not accessible anymore.

“Despite the public defacement of your site, which boasts millions of visitors, all you did was hastily change your database credentials, disable outside connections to the database server, and fix the articles,” read the message.
