Cyberattacks are not going anywhere. And with the growing volume of cyber dangers, everyone becomes a potential target.
Cybercriminals aren’t resting, and especially because of the global unrest, the situation is only getting worse. Whether it’s a data breach or a ransomware attack, cyber risks can end up costing your company major amounts of money and even reputation.
For this reason, ensuring a good cybersecurity posture is a must. Whether it’s adopting traditional security measures, such as data encryption tools, or relying on managed IT services, protecting your assets will help prevent business disruption.
Cybernews invited Ivan Santos, the Commercial Director of Beytech – a company that specializes in various IT solutions, including managed services and innovative technology. Santos agreed to share his views about cybersecurity trends and cyber risk management.
How did Beytech come about in 2010? What has the journey been like?
Beytech was founded on the conviction that it is possible to translate technology into results for companies. In a scenario where information circulates faster and faster and security features evolve at an accelerated pace, our mission is to make our customers follow this evolution without having to worry about it, enabling them to focus on their business.
Can you tell us a little bit about what you do? What are the main challenges you help navigate?
We are a company with a complete portfolio that uses global platforms to provide the best security, connectivity, and support solutions to our partners. Our challenge in Information Security is to develop best practices to mitigate the risks of unauthorized access and/or illegal use of our customers' data.
What are your thoughts on IT systems specifically tailored to one's business? Is it something every organization should invest in or is it only relevant for large enterprises?
Having a secure and efficient system is extremely important at the enterprise level. In Brazil, we have the LGPD (General Law for the Protection of Personal Data) where data security and privacy are necessary. Accordingly, the platforms embedded in your business are an important differentiator.
What is it like providing IT services these days? Are there any new challenges you have to adapt to?
As an IT supplier, it is a very challenging business. Brazil suffered more than 88.5 billion attempts of cyberattacks in 2021. Our team is constantly being trained so that we can use the best platforms available, all this to mitigate the global risks we face.
In your opinion, why are certain companies still unaware of the risks hiding in their networks?
Many companies still don't have an IT department or a specialized consultancy, so they’re constantly attacked and threatened. We at Beytech promote campaigns showing the importance of data security and how specialized IT can add value to your business.
What are some of the most serious problems organizations can run into if managed IT solutions are not in place?
Organizations may run into problems of cyberattacks and data leaks. In this situation, having all software and hardware licenses up to date reduces the risks of intrusions while also having a good backup and recovery tool.
In your opinion, what kind of cyber threats are we going to see more of in the next few years?
We believe cyber threats should follow today's attack trends, such as IoT Malware, Custom Phishing, Ransomware, Crypto-jacking, Healthcare Attacks, Financial Services Scams, and Zero-Day Attacks.
What security measures do you think not only organizations but also casual Internet users should implement to tackle these new threats?
Have a cyber risk management plan.
Help your company identify and avoid cybersecurity risks while maintaining an efficient Backup structure, firewall (well configured), professional antivirus control, as well as keeping remote workers safe. Having employees working remotely can create new risks, such as loss, theft of devices, or confidential information. Lastly, every team must be advised on how to protect the company's data from attacks, therefore it’s important to establish a culture of cybersecurity concern by providing training and ensuring that employees feel empowered to report incidents.
And finally, what’s next for Beytech?
We are a company recognized for our commitment to the final result and concern to exceed the expectations of our customers, and with that, Beytech IT Solutions has been working tirelessly to provide the best solutions for the technology market. That is, in addition to our entire security portfolio, connectivity, outsourcing, collaboration, and high complexity projects and investing heavily in a collaboration platform.
