Night vision devices are in high demand due to surveillance

The night vision device market will soon exceed $10 billion due to their high demand by the military and law enforcement.

The market was initially valued at $7.5 billion in 2023 and is expected to grow to over $11 billion in 2028, a new research by MarketsandMarkets, an intelligence platform, revealed.

Night vision devices essentially mean any type of device that helps its owner to better see in the dark. While traditional cameras or binoculars are “blind” during the night, night vision tech can spot an intruder or assist in carrying out , let’s say, a rescue mission.

For example, the US Navy SEALS rely on night vision goggles during high-stake raids. A helicopter equipped with a night vision system comes in handy when looking for missing persons in the dark.

Such devices are increasingly used by law enforcement, the military, and private businesses for security and surveillance, therefore driving up the whole market.

As per report, the improved image quality durability, reduced size and weight of such devices make it more appealing to broader audiences. Therefore, it’s not only military and law enforcement that arm themselves with night vision tech, but also individuals who buy it to secure a home.

However, night vision devices with cutting-edge technology, such as thermal imaging and high-resolution image intensifiers, are quite expensive.

The study forecasts that thermal imaging technology will see a steep increase in investment. While it's not quite a novelty, the market for night vision technology still has room for improvement. With foreseen growth, night vision device manufacturers have to find a way to create advanced and more affordable tools, while users have to work on ways to implement these technologies to ensure safety.
