Realme’s Super Sonic charging technology has overtaken Xiaomi, the previous leader.
These days, most high-end flagships have a few dozen watts, enabling you to charge your smartphone in around an hour or slightly longer.
If we look at some of the latest flagships, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 has 25W charging, Google’s Pixel 9 has 45W, and Apple offers 20W wired charging with its iPhone 15.
However, some Chinese vendors offer much faster wattage.
This week, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Realme introduced its Super Sonic Charge technology, which achieved a record 320W.
In an event in China, the company demonstrated how its technology can charge a 4,400 mAh capacity battery, which is more or less standard in the latest flagships, in four minutes and 30 seconds from 0 to 100%.
According to the company's promotional video, the biggest challenge when creating fast-charging smartphones is to put in as many individual battery cells as possible. Realme said it managed to include more cells by using folded batteries.

The company is known for creating fast-charging smartphones. Last year, it announced GT Neo 5, a smartphone with 240W charging capability that could charge a smartphone in 10 minutes.
Previously, Xiaomi had developed the fastest smartphone charging technology. The vendor also stated that it can charge a battery in under 5 minutes, though the battery’s capacity was slightly smaller than that of Realme’s.
