Xiaomi's upcoming foldable is set to outperform Samsung in a few key parameters

The upcoming Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 will be one of the slimmest and lightest foldables on the market.

Xiaomi is hosting an event in China on July 19th and will announce two new foldable phones: the book-style Mix Fold 4 and its first flip-style foldable phone, Mix Flip.

The company shared details about the MIX Fold 4 ahead of its launch, giving us a glimpse at the new flagship's capabilities.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun teased the new foldable in a post on X, saying that it packs flagship-level capabilities in camera, performance, and battery.

According to Jun, the phone is 9.47mm thick and weighs 226 grams. This makes the MIX Fold 4 just a few tenths of a millimeter thicker than Honor's Magic V Flip 3, which is the slimmest phone on the market at 9.2 mm.

In comparison, Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 6 – which was announced last week along with the Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy Ring, new smartwatches, and earphones – weighs 239 grams and is 12.1 mm thick.

In a separate post on the Chinese social network Weibo, Xiaomi revealed some specifications of the MIX Fold 4. The phone will be equipped with four Leica camera systems. Two of the cameras will be telephoto lenses, including a periscope lens capable of 5x optical zoom.

The phone is also said to come with 50W wireless charging, IPX8 water and dust resistance, and two-way satellite communication.

Xiaomi didn't disclose any details about its flip-style foldable, the Mix Flip. However, information spotted on a national certification website revealed some details about the battery.

According to My Smart Price, the phone will come with 67W fast charging and a dual battery that offers around 4,700 mAh, surpassing the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 with its 4.000 mAh capacity battery.

It’s unclear whether these new devices will be available outside of China, as previous Mix Fold phones were sold in Xiaomi's home market.
