Google has expanded the availability of its AI-powered app creation tool.
Google has announced that its tool Opal is now available on the Gemini web app.
The company introduced Opal in July of this year as Google’s AI mini-app builder. Now, Google is integrating the tool into the Gemini web app, allowing users to create their own apps.
These mini apps are also called Gems, or as Google refers to them, “AI experts” that can be designed to help with idea brainstorming, coaching, coding, or tailored to meet any of the user’s personal needs.
Gems were launched last year as a part of the Google Labs project. The company is now adding it to the Gemini web app, where it can be found via the Gems manager.
To create a personalized app, a user has to explain their needs in natural language. After this, the tool utilizes various Gemini models to create an app that reflects the user's request.
For those who are unsure about how to use the tool, the company has shared that it also includes a visual editor, which provides the necessary steps to create an app.
The company also shares that users who want more “advanced customization options” can find them at opal.google, with Advanced Editor.
Google isn’t the only company offering AI tools to assist in app creation. Among such companies are Anthropic, OpenAI, Lovable, and more.
