Ronaldo kicks off AI deal with Perplexity


Football star Cristiano Ronaldo has taken an undisclosed stake in artificial intelligence start-up Perplexity.

Heralding the move as a signal “that trusted AI is becoming part of how top performers think,” the AI company said that the Portuguese footballer would also act as a brand ambassador to the company.

Announcing the investment in an X post, the player said: “You win when you keep asking new questions every day. That’s why I am proud to announce my investment in Perplexity.”

With Ronaldo’s massive social media presence of over 1 billion followers across major platforms, his investment and partnership could significantly expand Perplexity’s user base.

As part of the collaboration, the star, who has won 34 trophies in his career, unveiled a dedicated landing page, CR7, a nod to the football legend’s personal brand.

Founded in 2022, Perplexity AI sets itself apart from other top AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude by acting more like a research engine than a chatbot. Every answer comes with citations by default.
