Hewlett Packard Enterprise wins billion-dollar defense contract

Hewlett Packard Enterprises (HPE) has won a contract worth $931 million from DISA, a US combat support agency within the Department of War, to modernize its data centers.
The ten-year contract with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) is for a distributed, hybrid, multi-cloud solution to modernize its data centers.
According to HPE, the investment aims to provide digital and artificial intelligence services that will help deliver “mission-critical outcomes for warfighters at the speed required by real-time, global operations.”
HPE said it would use its private hybrid cloud, GreenLake, together with “on-premises and air-gapped management.”
HPE was the enterprise product division of Hewlett-Packard (HP) until it was spun out as a separate business.
HP layoffs
Separately, HP has announced a 10% cut in its workforce by 2028. The consumer-focused computer maker said it will cut as many as 6,000 jobs as part of a pivot towards AI, which it said would help boost product development and improve customer service.
