A 20-year-old South Texan man attempted to trick a child into creating child sexual abuse material (CSAM) using popular social media apps.
Not only did Brandon Roy Alvarez collect child pornography and store it on multiple devices, but he also pretended to be a child to entice a minor into creating CSAM.
Alvarez pretended to be a child and used the CSAM he collected to entice another young person into creating more child pornography.
Authorities were alerted to a situation involving a 10-year-old child who lived in Finland.
Alvarez reportedly sent the child sexually explicit messages, some containing child pornography.

The predator attempted to lure the child into making CSAM, enticing the child to send him a nude photo and or video of the child masturbating, the Department of Justice said.
Alvarez admittedly used various accounts to meet minors online and posed as a female child to entice children into creating explicit content by sending young children CSAM.
The man used various social media apps and popular applications. The Department of Justice didn’t specify which apps were used. However, the man clearly used social media platforms that children frequent.
Alvarez pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 210 months (over 17 years) in federal prison.
Alongside his sentence, Alvarez will serve 10 years of supervised release, his access to children and the internet will be restricted, and he will be forced to register as a sex offender.
