The internet turned an 81-year-old Minecraft Grandma into a target

The local police swatted an elderly woman who was asleep after leaving her Minecraft stream online.

YouTuber GrammaCrackers, who has over 600,000 followers, was startled to find 20 police cars, five SWAT cars, and drones arriving at her address. Quite surprisingly, the Grandmother found it to be a refreshing experience.

"I was asleep, I did not want to get up, and these policemen came in the door," she said, confirming the fact that they entered with torches and rifles.

Swatting is a form of criminal harassment where emergency services are deceived into sending police or emergency response teams to someone else's location.

The grandmother was removed from the house for safety reasons, and instead, she was detained for a short while in the police car before realizing it was a hoax.

In turn, the senior commented on the police car ride, revealing that she had never ridden with law enforcement – and that soon after the police left, she took an Ibuprofen and went to sleep.

In a lengthy video with her grandson, whom GrammaCrackas streams videos to raise money for his cancer treatment, she revealed that she had never felt so protected in her life and that it felt like “pure love.”

The pair also speculated who might have pulled such a SWAT prank and concluded that it was probably younger viewers or someone of “very little” stature.

GrammaCrackers, who has previously played Fortnite, Rocket League, and Roblox, also explained that one of the police officers even considered dancing in the video, but then had second thoughts.

At the end of the chat with her grandson, they graciously invited viewers to keep watching the YouTube and Twitch livestreams she makes, but to be aware of the legal implications of swatting.

Swatting a streamer is illegal in the US and can carry fines of up to $250,000 and federal imprisonment.

The extreme prank emerged in the early 2000s among gaming and hacker communities.

Two examples emerged last year, one in which three British men were arrested for running a hoax 2 years in the making, targeting celebrity influencers.

The other case was a Romanian man who was caught as the leader of a swatting gang, which predominantly targeted politicians and religious groups.
