Cybercrime platform selling PII busted by law enforcement, admins face 40+ years behind bars


Law enforcement agencies have shut down Rydox, an illegal platform known for selling personal information.

Alongside the site's seizure, Kosovo police arrested two people in connection with the site, and a third was arrested by law enforcement in Albania.

Ardit Kutleshi, Jetmir Kutleshi, and Shpend Sokoli were Rydox administrators. If convicted, they face more than 40 years in prison.

Since its launch in 2016, the cybercrime platform sold personally identifiable information (PII), cybercrime tools, and access devices. The site made 7,600 sales and generated an estimated $230,000 in revenue.

The PII sold on the site included credit card information and login credentials stolen from thousands of individuals in the US. The site also sold names, addresses, and Social Security numbers, along with other illicit services.

Rydox offered 320,000 cybercrime products, which included scam pages, spamming logs, and spamming tutorials to its 18,000 users.

Servers were seized by US and Malaysian law enforcement agencies, and the site was taken down. Authorities also seized $225,000 worth of cryptocurrency from accounts controlled by the website’s administrators.
