Timed to coincide with Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve, the three-part final series promises the streaming giant peak viewership and builds suspense by spacing the episodes out.
The first part, consisting of four episodes, will be released on November 26th, just ahead of Thanksgiving weekend. It will be followed by a second volume of two episodes on December 25th, and the “epic series finale” on December 31st.
All volumes will be released worldwide simultaneously at 5 p.m. PT, with the exact date varying by local timezone. Netflix announced the release during its 2025 Tudum event, where the cast also unveiled the first trailer for the new season.
The much-anticipated Season 5 will see the group in a final battle with Vecna, the series’ main antagonist. Fans can also expect “big reveals” about the alternate dimension known as the Upside Down, according to the show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer.
Much of the cast will reprise their roles, including Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, David Harbour as Jim Hopper, and Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven.
“It won’t be much longer now before your favorite nerds take on Vecna in what promises to be one last epic ride through Hawkins, Indiana,” Netflix said in a press release.
In addition to the release dates, Netflix also announced the titles for all eight episodes. In numerical order, these are: The Crawl, The Vanishing Of…, The Turnbow Trap, Sorcerer, Shock Jock, Escape From Camazotz, The Bridge, and The Rightside Up.
The supernatural drama was first released on Netflix in 2016 to critical and popular acclaim, becoming one of the streaming giant’s most watched shows.
