Congress shown classified UAP videos that “defy physics,” lawmaker says

US Congressman Eric Burlison says classified UAP videos shown in a closed-door Pentagon briefing depict objects “defying physics,” as lawmakers push for greater UFO transparency, whistleblower access, and declassification of hidden footage.

Speaking on a debut podcast named Aliens Last Night, Burlison said the videos he saw showed objects moving in ways he described as “defying physics.”

The footage remains classified. Neither the public nor independent scientists have been allowed to review it, and even members of Congress say their access is limited, which has ramped up the curiosity in the Reddit community.

And even if the evidence remains locked away, it shows how far the UAP issue has moved inside the government, as it inches closer to more mainstream recognition.

Why Burlison is speaking out

Burlison’s comments come amid growing frustration in Congress over how UFO- and UAP-related information is classified and controlled by the Department of Defense.

To overcome those access limits, Burlison says whistleblower Matthew Brown is helping lawmakers identify where UAP-related records are stored across the federal system.

Burlison has stressed that he’s not claiming proof of extraterrestrial life but that "one of the asks that I've put into the White House, and I think they legitimately are trying to make happen, is a series of visits to some of these locations.”

Though politically vague, the request marks an escalation, with Congress asking the White House to step in after some lawmakers said they were shown limited UAP footage while being denied full access to classified records.

“We’re currently in an effort to get access to about two dozen videos,” said Burlison on the podcast.

What about the aircraft he mentioned?

On the podcast, Burlison said the footage depicted aerial objects performing in ways that could not easily be reconciled with known aircraft.

He used the phrase “defying physics” in a non-technical sense, describing extreme speed or manoeuvrability rather than literal violations of physical laws.

As Matthew Brown has previously alleged – though not as explicitly as David Grusch for example – there could be a case of reverse engineering at play, as part of a wider theory that UAP secrecy served less to hide extraterrestrial life than to protect classified technological research.

In a rare show of emotion from a congressman, Burlison said:

If this government has discovered some form of propulsion that is a game changer, I'm going to be extremely livid. We all should be because I think there is technology that is clearly advanced that might have the ability to improve all of our lives.

The reaction among the community

Redditors took to the passionate r/UFOs community to contemplate the physics of Burlison's claims. One reply sounded off. I doubt the military has anti gravity technology. The amount of energy needed is too high. Also, how do they pilot those things at such speed?”

However, a fellow community member clarified that "it's a huge misconception, and that the energy required would be tiny.”

Quite often conspiracy theories are ridiculed on platforms such as X. However, the Reddit UFO community is more open to nuance, even considering dilettante claims like mistrust of unclear footage.

“Clear images/videos likely resolve man-made or terrestrial explanations. Blurry videos is where ufology thrives,” wrote one Reddit user, u/1290SDR.

And even if the issue itself seems a little murky, Burlison's comments bring the debate back down to earth, making this less about extraterrestrial life and more about accountability.
