Louis Vuitton confirms customer data stolen in cyberattack

Luxury retail company Louis Vuitton has said data of some UK customers has been stolen after hackers gained access to its systems.

On July 2nd, an unauthorised third party managed to access the systems of the British unit of LVMH. Hackers obtained sensitive customer information, including names, contact details, and purchase history.

The retailer claims in an email to customers that no financial data, such as bank details, had been compromised.

Customers are advised to stay vigilant for potential fraudulent activity.

“While we have no evidence that your data has been misused to date, phishing attempts, fraud attempts, or unauthorised use of your information may occur,” the email said.

The brand added that it had notified the relevant authorities, including the Information Commissioner’s Office.

The incident is not an isolated hack — it is the third breach of LVMH’s systems in the last three months. Last week, Louis Vuitton Korea reported a similar incident that included compromised customer data. In May, LVMH’s second-largest fashion brand, Christian Dior Couture, also reported a hack that involved the theft of customer contact details and purchase history.

It is, however, unclear whether this hack is related to any of the previous attacks.

Louis Vuitton UK said it’s investigating the breach and has taken steps to strengthen its system security. The company also stated that it regrets the inconvenience caused to customers.
