OnlyFans CEO hints at background checks on US creators

OnlyFans may start running background checks on its creators after the platform’s CEO announced a partnership with an identity, criminal, and public record checking service.

The post on LinkedIn from Keily Blair, CEO of OnlyFans, stated that one of the core principles of the platform is “safety by design,” and the adult-only platform is seeking “new and innovative ways to protect (its) community.”

In the post found by 404 Media, Blair boasts that OnlyFans has “one of the most robust onboarding processes of any online user-generated content platform.”

Blair claims that the partnership will help “OnlyFans to prevent people who have a criminal conviction” from signing up as a creator.

While the post is vague, one of the main services offered by Checkr Trust is criminal and public record checks, which cover 99% of the US population, according to its website.

Checkr Trust offers screening services for individuals to check for criminal history and whether they’re on the sex offenders registry.

Cybernews has reached out to OnlyFans for comment.

Checkr, which was acquired by Inflection, another background checking company, in April, has reportedly been sued hundreds of times, according to a report by Vice.

The lawsuits were predominantly for violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, along with other consumer credit complaints.
