Because counterfeit tech is becoming more common, TronicsPay guarantees consumers can trust and track used electronics by confirming their authenticity and purchasing them.
The worldwide electronics market is at risk from fake products and China is responsible for the bulk of criminal goods reaching the U.S. market. The website TronicsPay.com offers extreme protection for consumers and brand owners using innovative authentication. This press release highlights how many counterfeit products affect the market, what the problems are and how TronicsPay is solving them by using proven data and a workable approach for ethical tech resale.
The Problem: China’s Role in Global Counterfeits
In 2024, China was responsible for 75% of the counterfeit electronics intercepted at U.S. borders, including $7 million in faked Apple chargers taken at Houston in May. Fraudulent goods are sold in the U.S. through online shopping sites and small package delivery, without going through safety screenings. According to the OECD, fake tech sellers cost companies about $200 billion each year, but factories in Shenzhen refine the replicas so well that they even copy the serial numbers and packaging.
What’s the big deal? Every fake device you buy or sell creates work for abusive companies that avoid taxes and endanger users. The majority of the items seized come from China and Hong Kong. During that year, the CBP stopped almost 32 million dangerous electronics from entering the country.
The Impact: On Brands, Consumers, and Safety
Phony electronics are not just copies; they are dangerous! Last year, fake AirPods Max with low battery quality resulted in 14,000 emergency room visits and counterfeit chargers for phones caused 47 fires in homes. Even though Apple loses $45 billion in revenue each year, the main issue isn’t that. It is the consumer who ends up paying.
Did you realize?
A third of used devices on secondary markets is fake. Because fake electronics are not approved by the FCC/UL, they may expose your data.
