Claude has joined the ranks of chatbots ready to help healthcare professionals by providing answers based on medical publications.
Anthropic is releasing a new feature designed to simplify access to medical information for doctors and patients through a chatbot.
The company shared that Claude, its AI chatbot, is launching a feature that meets the standards of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
The feature would be utilized by medical professionals in hospitals and consumers.
The company has also added scientific databases to its products, according to a report by Bloomberg.
The new feature enables users to transfer their health data from apps like Apple Health or Function Health, making it easier to share this data with their medical providers.
News about the new Claude feature came a few days after OpenAI shared information about similar tools that are intended to assist medical workers with cases and enable patients to view their lab results, workout routines, and dietary recommendations.
The new Claude feature has already been utilized by Banner Health, a nonprofit healthcare system in the US. Its 22,000 clinical providers report satisfaction with the platform, with 85% of them noting that they work faster and more accurately.
Among other medical companies using Claude are Novo Nordisk A/S, a Danish healthcare company, and Stanford Health Care.
Antrophic’s Claude provides answers based on information from PubMed, an archive for biomedical and life sciences journal literature, and the NPI Registry, a public database that provides information on healthcare providers.
Considering the crucial role of the healthcare sector, it appears that AI is being utilized to alleviate this workload. Especially when it comes to automated tasks.
For example, the state of Utah became the first state to utilize AI in helping with prescription refills. The aim is to make it easier for patients to renew their prescriptions and ease the workload for medical staff.
