Meta postpones release of Ray-Ban Display glasses for European market

The release of the Ray-Ban Display outside the US has been delayed for the time being due to its high popularity.
Ray-Ban Display is Meta’s first pair of AI glasses, designed for a variety of uses, including local search and navigation, text translation, weather forecasting, sending and receiving text messages and video replies, video calling, controlling your favorite music, setting reminders, and requesting sports scores.
The glasses feature six microphones, two speakers, a 12-megapixel camera with 3x digital zoom, and a 600x600 high-resolution, full-color in-lens screen. The Ray-Ban Display is controlled with the Meta Neural Band, an EMG wristband that measures electrical activity in the nerves of the wrist to operate the glasses with gestures.
At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Winchester, Nevada, Meta has announced that the international release of the AI glasses has been pushed due to the “overwhelming amount of interest.”
“Because of this unprecedented demand and limited inventory, we’ve decided to pause our planned international expansion to the UK, France, Italy, and Canada, which was originally scheduled for early 2026. We’ll continue to focus on fulfilling orders in the US while we re-evaluate our approach to international availability,” Meta says in a blog post.
Meta doesn’t mention a new release date for the Ray-Ban Display and Meta Neural Band outside of the US.
Meta also used the stage in Las Vegas to reveal several new and upcoming features for the glasses, the first being a teleprompter. It displays the contents of your speech in the in-lens display and can be controlled with the Meta Neural Band, allowing you to move through your presentation at your own pace.
The second forthcoming feature is called EMG Handwriting. Users will have the option to send messages on WhatsApp and Messenger by writing with their fingers on any surface. However, this feature is currently limited to the US and only supports the English language.
Furthermore, Meta is rolling out Pedestrian Navigation to four more cities (Denver, Las Vegas, Portland, and Salt Lake City) and is available in 32 cities in total.
Meta launched the Ray-Ban Display and Meta Neural Band in the Fall of 2025. The second generation of the AI glasses and wristband starts at $379 and goes up to $799.
