President Donald Trump’s announcement that the US is officially renaming AI to “super intelligence” could bring a fortune to a small European nation.
Speaking at the UN General Assembly on September 22nd, Trump said that the US is renaming AI, because, according to POTUS, the word “artificial” in the term makes intelligence sound “fake.”
“It is not fake. It is actually amazing. It is exactly the opposite of what it purports,” he said.
The president declared that all official US documents will be changed to include a “much more accurate term” – super intelligence.
“Welcome to the new world of super intelligence – SI,” Trump said.
The unexpected announcement follows a survey that Trump launched on his social media platform Truth Social, asking followers to choose between 2 options: “super intelligence” and “superior intelligence.” The majority (65%) voted for the former.
If AI’s rebranding to super intelligence is here to stay, it will likely result in increased demand for the .si country code top-level domain, which belongs to Slovenia, the homeland of POTUS’s wife, Melania Trump.

Trump said he hoped AI would be renamed SI globally, but it remains to be seen whether other countries will follow.
The current POTUS is no stranger to changing names of places and things, whether it's the Gulf of Mexico or Lake Ontario, which the US now calls the Gulf of America and Lake America.
While US tech companies followed Trump’s order and renamed these places on map apps, governments continue to use the original names, which comes as no surprise given the renaming was unilateral and highly politicized.

Leading AI labs may also be among the first ones to adopt the term SI.
Until now, super intelligence has been loosely defined as a hypothetical system that operates beyond human-level intelligence, surpassing even the capabilities of – again – theoretical human-level artificial general intelligence (AGI).
Some AI executives, such as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, have predicted that super intelligence will be achieved in the next few years. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang recently declared that AGI has already arrived.
Anthropic registers “super intelligence” domains
On the day of the UN remarks, 621 domains containing the term “super intelligence” were registered, compared to 1-33 a day over the previous three weeks, according to an analysis by Alexandre François, DNS threat researcher at WhoisXML API.
However, Anthropic was the only AI lab to register SI-related domains. The company registered 5 names through its brand-protection registrar, MarkMonitor, just 3 hours after the speech.
The names are claudesuperintelligence.com, .org, and .tech, in addition to anthropicsuperintelligence.org and .tech.
“We can’t tell whether this is groundwork for a product or a defensive registration; the second is standard brand hygiene, and it is common practice when a new term attaches itself to your product name overnight,” François says in a statement.
