Pricing comparison: Hostinger delivers better value

Both providers cost similarly, but Hostinger still offers better value. While A2 Hosting prices start at $1.99/month, Hostinger offers much more resources and features for $2.69/month.

The same goes for all hosting categories – Hostinger matches the price of A2 Hosting but outperforms it by providing more extras. Check out the table below for a more detailed comparison.

Hosting typeHostingerA2 Hosting
Shared✅ Yes, from $2.69/month✅ Yes, from $1.99/month

VPS✅ Yes, from $4.49/month✅ Yes, from $3.99/month
Cloud✅ Yes, from $7.19/month❌ No

Shared hosting is the most used option offered by both Hostinger and A2 Hosting, but when compared, Hostinger delivers more value for the price.

Hostinger's entry-level Premium plan costs $2.69/month. It supports 25 websites, has 25GB SSD storage, and lets you create 50 email accounts. Additionally, it provides a free SSL, weekly backups, and access to its AI-powered Horizons builder.

In comparison, A2 Hosting's cheapest Starter plan is priced similarly at $1.99/month, but it only supports 1 website, offers 15GB disk space, and includes only 5 email accounts.

The same pattern applies to all tiers and hosting plans - Hostinger includes more resources and advanced tools for a better price. Additionally, it's worth mentioning that unlike Hostinger, A2 Hosting does not provide Cloud hosting plans, which limits flexibility for growing websites.

Wrapping up
Although both providers have similar starting prices, Hostinger delivers better value. To put it in perspective – with Hostinger, for $2.69/month, you get 25 websites, 25GB of storage, and 50 email accounts. On the other hand, A2 Hosting’s $1.99/month plan includes just 1 website, 15GB of storage, and five email accounts. This pattern continues across all the plans – Hostinger consistently offers more for your money.

A2 Hosting vs Hostinger performance

When it comes to performance, Hostinger is a winner compared to A2 Hosting. It beat A2 Hosting across all performance tests, including speed, uptime, and stress tests. I've put all test results in the table below so you can quickly compare both providers yourself.

Further in this section, I provide more information about Hostinger and A2 Hosting uptime, speed, and stress test results.

Uptime and response time

I worked with the Cybernews research team to monitor Hostinger and A2 Hosting uptime and response times for two weeks.

During this time, Hostinger delivered great performance, with 100% uptime and no outages, fully living up to its guarantee. Meanwhile, in terms of speed, Hostinger's average response time was just 60.3ms, far faster than the industry average of around 600ms.

A2 Hosting also achieved a perfect 100% uptime, which is excellent. However, its average latency was 168.23ms, over twice as slow as Hostinger's. It still falls well within the industry average of 600ms, making it a solid provider overall.

Website speed

One of the most essential metrics when testing website speed is the Largest Contentful Paint (LCP). This metric shows how long it took for the website to load the biggest chunk of the page, for example, an image. If you want Google or some other search engine to rank your page better, LCP should be under 2.5s.

During my test, Hostinger loaded the LCP in just 0.915s, which is well below the recommended requirement.

A2 Hosting, on the other hand, loaded the LCP in 1.377s, which fits into the recommended range but is a bit slower than Hostinger.

However, remember that website speed also depends on where you're accessing it from. That's why, before hosting a website, you must consider your target audience's location and pick the server closest to that location.

Hostinger lets you choose from 12 server locations, including France, Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, the UK, India, Indonesia, Singapore, the US, and Brazil. A2 Hosting, on the other hand, only has servers in 7 countries: the US, the UK, Germany, Singapore, Australia, Mexico, and India.

Stress test results

Together with our research team, I conducted stress tests on both providers to assess their ability to handle large user spikes.

Hostinger performed exceptionally well. In 5 minutes, it successfully handled 7,282 requests without a single HTTP failure, meaning every virtual user could load the website without issues. Most impressively, the 95th percentile (P95) response time was only 37ms, indicating that 95% of all requests were fully loaded within that time frame.

While A2 Hosting didn’t experience any HTTP failures during the stress test, its performance lagged regarding response time. Over approximately 5 minutes, the server processed 2,349 requests, with a P95 response time of 6,521ms – well above Google’s recommended threshold of 2000ms for optimal user experience.

Wrapping up
While Hostinger and A2 Hosting delivered perfect uptime, Hostinger came out on top. It offered faster response times, quicker page loads, and better performance under stress, handling over three times more requests with far lower latency. This makes Hostinger the better choice for dependable, high-speed hosting.

Hosting features and ease of use: Hostinger offers more advanced tools

After creating a website with both providers, I found that Hostinger stands out for its user-friendly interface, solid hosting tools, and focus on WordPress, making it ideal for beginners and casual users. In contrast, A2 Hosting caters more to experienced developers, offering tools better suited for advanced web projects.

In this section, I compare A2 Hosting and Hostinger control panels and feature sets to find out which provider has better tools for hosting a website.

Control panel comparison

Hostinger uses its own control panel, called hPanel. It is designed to be user-friendly and straightforward so that everyone can use it, even those without any previous hosting experience.

Everything you need is conveniently located in one place. From the menu on the left side of the screen, I could easily manage my website, emails, domains, and VPS.

There is also a helpful overview section that displays key information about my hosting plan, along with step-by-step guides and tips for improving my website. So, whether you're a beginner or not very technical, hPanel makes hosting a website easy and hassle-free.

On the other hand, hosting a website with A2 Hosting was a different experience. It uses a combination of a basic custom dashboard and popular third-party tools. However, the actual website and hosting tasks rely on cPanel and Softaculous, well-known tools widely used in the hosting industry.

The panel is well organized, with features categorized under domains, email, metrics, and software sections, making navigation straightforward.

Also, there is the main dashboard on which I can see all the information about my billing, domain, and DNS management.

This setup might not be as easy for beginners as Hostinger's hPanel. However, experienced users and developers may like it more, since cPanel and Softaculous offer greater flexibility and advanced features.

WordPress features comparison

Hostinger is ideal for beginners and is one of the providers officially recommended by WordPress. It offers a seamless WordPress setup with 1-click installation, making it easy to start without technical knowledge. Then, a built-in vulnerability scanner helps identify and fix security issues early, protecting your site. Additionally, depending on your plan, you can access a staging environment to safely test changes before pushing them live, and WooCommerce integration to build and manage an online store with ease. Also, automatic on-demand backups ensure your data is secure and can be restored anytime.

However, the most notable feature is Hostinger’s AI toolkit. It includes tools for generating content like blog posts and product descriptions to build your site faster. Additionally, Hostinger offers AI troubleshooting support to resolve common WordPress issues quickly.

A2 Hosting, on the other hand, is better suited for users with some technical experience. It comes with WordPress pre-installed, so you can start building right away, and it includes performance-enhancing plugins to boost site speed and responsiveness. It also integrates the Jetpack feature, which helps with security, performance monitoring, and site management. Additionally, it provides All-in-One SEO tools to help you make your website more visible on search engines. Like Hostinger, it offers a staging tool that lets you test updates or new features in a safe environment before publishing changes live.

However, A2 Hosting relies on a more traditional interface using cPanel. It provides advanced configuration options but may feel complex for beginners. This makes it a better fit for users who want more control and are comfortable navigating hosting dashboards.

Web builders comparison

Together with its hosting services, Hostinger provides a beginner-friendly website builder that’s intuitive and packed with features. You get a drag-and-drop editor, modern templates, and support for up to 100 websites. Additionally, with its AI features, you can create a website in seconds – explain how you want it to look, choose the theme, and have Hostinger create it for you.

A2 Hosting also provides a simple website builder with a drag-and-drop editor. With it, you can easily add photos, forms, videos, social links, and even PayPal buttons for basic e-commerce. It also supports multi-page sites and includes SEO tools, making it a decent choice for simple business or portfolio sites. However, compared to Hostinger, you only get up to 40 website templates with some customization options. Also, A2 Hosting's builder feels limited and outdated compared to Hostinger, especially regarding AI tools and design options.

Wrapping up
After comparing both providers' features, I’d say that Hostinger is more suitable for beginners, while A2 Hosting offers features for more advanced users. However, in the end, Hostinger still comes out on top. It has a custom-built hPanel, AI tools, and a one-click WordPress setup. Also, its website builder is much more advanced and lets you build a website in seconds.

Regarding security, both Hostinger and A2 Hosting offer solid protection. They encrypt data with SSL certificates, scan your website for threats or malware, and protect it from DDoS attacks. However, each provider also includes other tools to enhance your website's security.

Hostinger includes a web application firewall (WAF). This tool filters out harmful traffic and guards your website against attacks from malicious hackers who try to steal data, break into accounts, or overload your website. Hostinger also uses Cloudflare-protected nameservers, which help block malicious traffic and improve site speed.

A2 Hosting, on the other hand, adds Anti-Spam and Anti-Virus tools. These features protect your email accounts against junk, spam, malicious messages, and malware.

Wrapping up
Both providers offer key security features like SSL certificates and DDoS protection. Hostinger adds extra layers with a firewall, vulnerability scanner, and Cloudflare integration. Meanwhile, A2 Hosting focuses on core security features, with tools like malware scans and email AntiSpam. So it all depends on your specific needs.

Customer support: both providers offer decent support services

Both Hostinger and A2 Hosting offer reliable customer support but with slightly different options. Hostinger provides 24/7 live chat, a detailed knowledge base, and email support for more complex questions. A2 Hosting offers the same support options as Hostinger, including live chat and a knowledge base, but adds phone support – giving users the option to speak directly with an agent for faster assistance.

To see the difference between the 2 providers more clearly, see the table below.

Customer support solutionHostingerA2 Hosting
24/7 live chat✅ Yes✅ Yes
Phone line❌ No✅ Yes
Email or ticketing system✅ Yes✅ Yes
Knowledge base✅ Yes✅ Yes

Hostinger's AI support agent was helpful and gave clear answers before passing me to a live agent. The support team was also knowledgeable and solved my issues quickly. However, if you like sorting things out yourself, Hostinger's knowledge base contains helpful guides and how-tos.

When I tested A2 Hosting's live chat support, their agents were polite, but it took some time for me to get the answer I wanted. On the other hand, A2 Hosting offers phone support, which might be helpful in cases when live chat isn't enough and you need more in-depth assistance.

Wrapping up
Both A2 Hosting and Hostinger have advantages and disadvantages. Hostinger offers perfect live chat support and a knowledge base but doesn't offer phone support. A2 Hosting, on the other hand, does offer phone support, but its live chat support agents may not answer some of your questions.

A2 Hosting vs Hostinger: final recommendations

After comparing Hostinger and A2 Hosting in terms of performance, pricing, features, and support, I can safely say that Hostinger wins this comparison.

I came to this conclusion because Hostinger offers better value with cheaper plans and more resources than A2 Hosting. It also performed better in our tests. On top of that, Hostinger includes more valuable features, like the easy-to-use hPanel, and innovative AI tools, such as Horizons, which help you build web apps quickly with AI.

However, Hostinger didn't completely outshine A2 Hosting. Both providers offer strong security features. And while A2 Hosting's support isn't as polished, it does offer phone support – something Hostinger currently lacks.

In the end, if you want a user-friendly provider with strong WordPress tools, design options, and excellent performance, Hostinger is the better choice. But if you’re a more advanced user looking for a basic, reliable host, A2 Hosting can still do the job. It all comes down to what you need.
