Personal information of Minister, Member of Parliament, and prisoners leaked in data breach at Clinical Diagnostics

The personal information of a Minister from the government and a Member of Parliament can be found in the data breach at Clinical Diagnostics. The same goes for over 250 prisoners.
On Monday, the Centre for Population Screening announced that hackers managed to steal the personal information of 485, 000 participants in a cervical cancer screening program between July 3rd and July 6th, 2025.
The attackers, a group of cybercriminals known as Nova, exfiltrated highly sensitive information from an external research lab, including names, addresses, dates of birth, citizens’ service numbers (BSN), test results, and the names of the participants’ healthcare providers.
This is only the tip of the iceberg. Z-CERT, the Computer Emergency Response Team for the healthcare sector in the Netherlands, confirmed that the data breach also infected several other healthcare providers.
According to RTL Nieuws, which studied a sample of the data that was published on the dark web after the breach, at least 50,000 patients who have had a medical examination carried out by their general practitioner, hospital, or another healthcare institution, have been affected by the incident.
The Dutch news outlet now says that personal details of a current Minister and Member of Parliament, who participated in a skin and cervical study respectively, have been published. Both politicians have been informed. For privacy reasons, their names are being withheld.
In addition, the Custodial Institutions Agency (DJI), which is responsible for the enforcement of sentences that are imposed by the courts, acknowledges that sensitive information of 253 (former) detainees has also been exposed due to the data breach. Victims of the data breach will receive a letter later this week.
DJI has decided to temporarily suspend its collaboration with Clinical Diagnostics and switch to another laboratory.
