Over 10M patients affected by Conduent data breach

State regulators have been informed that more than 10 million patients were affected by a data breach at Conduent earlier this year.
In April 2025, American business services provider Conduent disclosed that it had been hit with a cyberattack in January.
In an 8-K filing addressed to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the company stated that an unauthorized party accessed its digital environment from October 21st, 2024, to January 13th, 2025, and obtained files containing personal information of its patients.
Conduent wouldn’t disclose what data was involved in the breach, but it may potentially involve names, dates of birth, social security numbers, and treatment information.
Furthermore, the company said that the incident had an impact “on a limited portion” of its network and didn’t have any material impact on its day-to-day operations. In addition, both internal and external cybersecurity experts conducted a detailed analysis to upgrade the security of its networks.
Ever since the incident occurred, there have been no reports regarding the number of victims. For the first time, we’re getting a better picture of the number of victims.
According to The HIPAA Journal, state regulators have been told that over 10 million patients have been affected by the incident, including more than 4 million individuals in Texas and over 1 million individuals in Oregon.
Numerous healthcare organizations recently warned patients that their data had been stolen from the business services provider, including Blue Cross, Blue Shield Montana, Humana, and Premera Blue Cross.
At the presentation of the company’s first-quarter earnings, Conduent informed stakeholders that it had incurred $25 million in direct response costs related to the security incident.
“This was partially offset by a $9 million benefit from the recovery of legal costs from one of our insurance carriers,” the company added.
Conduent provides a range of back-office services, including printing, mailing, document processing, payment integrity services, and other support services to government agencies and healthcare organizations.
