“Too late, we’ve all moved on to Xbox,” Sony’s idea of compensation sparks fury in gamers

The PlayStation Network (PSN) suffered an outage that incited digital riots in the comment section. Sony's proposed solution only made gamers more furious.

“How are the yearly subscribers going to get COMPENSATED if we pay for an entire year[...]this is a f**king JOKE,” one gamer said under yesterday’s PlayStation X post.

The comment was in response to an outage that began on Friday evening and continued for almost a full day (roughly 17 hours). It affected gamers worldwide.

Affected services included account management, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, and the PlayStation Direct website, as well as gaming and social media.

Sony told its users via the status page that gamers might have problems starting up games, apps, or network features.

Users reported not being able to use their consoles as certain games weren’t working.

For example, employees from The Verge attempted to load purchased digital games but to no avail. They were also unable to see their PlayStation friends, trophies, or online status, the outlet reported.

Now, services have been restored, and Sony has provided some form of compensation to those who experienced issues. But, this “good faith” offer only infuriated users.

“All PlayStation Plus members will automatically receive an additional five days of service,” PlayStation said in a post, which left furious users slamming down their controllers.

“Five free days looks like you are making fun of us players,” declared one upset user, while others mocked Sony’s offering.

“Wow, five whole days,” “Only five,” and “Just five days?” were plastered across the comment section.

While some users expressed that PSN players should be grateful for getting five days of PlayStation Plus free, other users explained that they had been traumatized by the weekend outage.

One person asked Sony if users could “get some extra free games for the trauma you have caused us.”

Many other players declared that they were considering or had already switched to PlayStation rival Xbox as a more reliable alternative.

“Too late, we all moved on to Xbox,” said one user.

Another person said, “I think I'm gonna skip my five days of service and subscribe to Xbox for a month. I hate Xbox. But they have never had an outage like this.

PSN users are reportedly tired of outages, with Sony’s PlayStation appearing to regularly experience them.

The last major outage affecting PSN occurred back in October and lasted for roughly eight hours, impacting most of the network services and platforms.
