Key Terrorgram Collective member sentenced to 20 years for inspiring terrorist attacks

Matthew Althorpe, a Canadian national, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for several terrorism-related offenses.

According to the Public Prosecution Service of Canada, Althorpe, a man who was born and raised in Ontario’s Niagara region, produced videos, images, publications, and posts on the Terrorgram Collective. This is how he attempted to encourage hate towards minorities.

The Terrorgram Collective is a far-right, decentralized network that promotes extremist, violent white supremacist propaganda and ideologies through various Telegram channels.

“Terrorists know that online hatred can lead to violence and that their words and images are weapons that can convert the minds of others and inspire them to commit violent acts,” George Dolhai, Director at the Public Prosecution Service of Canada, says.

For his heinous acts, which have reportedly inspired multiple terrorist attacks, Althorpe was sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

“These acts of violence are carried out to threaten, maim, and kill in the service of ideologies that seek to destabilize societies through division and fear. Today’s sentence reflects Canadians’ collective condemnation and seeks to deter those who may be contemplating these crimes,” Dolhai continues.

For years, Europol’s European Counter Terrorism Centre (ECTC) supported the investigation into the Terrorgram Collective by providing analytical expertise and coordinating support to international partners.

“Europol’s analytical work plays a key role in judicial proceedings by establishing links between suspects, networks, and criminal activity across borders. By turning intelligence into evidence, Europol supports national authorities in building stronger cases, contributing to successful prosecutions and ensuring that individuals involved in serious and organized crime and terrorism are brought to justice,” Europol said in response to the Ontario Superior Court of Justice’s ruling.

Besides Althorpe, other key figures, including Dallas Humber and Matthew Allison, have been arrested and charged with acts to commit terrorism. Despite the arrests, the Terrorgram Collective is still operational and keeps on spreading racist propaganda to fuel a “Race War” to this day.
