Apple is sending out promotional notifications in its Wallet app, prompting users to buy movie tickets for the new F1 movie, a film that the iPhone maker produced.
Apple is once again pushing its content on iPhone users in the most bizarre of ways.
Various outlets have reported a strange little notification in their iPhone Wallet app of all places, prompting users to buy movie tickets via Fandango.
The “subtle” advertisement gives users $10 off tickets to see the new F1 movie, produced in part by Apple Studios, by applying the promo code “APPLEPAYTEN.”
As reported by The Verge, TechCrunch, and 9to5Mac, users were disturbed by the in-app notification attempting to push the F1 movie on its users.
Developer Maximiliano Firtman broadcast the “spam” advertisement to his almost 30,000 followers on X.

Another user also explicitly said that Apple shouldn’t be putting “f**king ads in my notifications using the Wallet app…stop turning your products into slop.”
Hey @AppleSupport @apple @tim_cook please do not put fucking ads in my notifications using the Wallet app! I want this app to have notifications but I will 100% turn them off if you do this shit!

Senior editor of The Verge, Tom Warren, posted about Apple’s “gross” practices on X, which sparked a debate in the comment section.

“Every company seems to be desperate these days,” said one user, while others commented that you don’t want to receive ads from a “utility app” that is meant to show relevant notifications.
Users also compared this situation to the U2 album debacle in 2014, where Apple downloaded U2’s album onto iPhones without explicit permission and with no way of deleting it from users’ devices.
