The latest optional Windows update, KB5043145, appears to have serious bugs.
Last week, Microsoft released the Windows update KB5043145, which includes several new improvements to the taskbar, settings, lock screen, and start menu.
However, users say that the update is causing serious issues. According to Microsoft, after installing the update, some customers have reported that their device restarts multiple times.
Others say that their device becomes unresponsive and shows a critical error screen, either a blue or green screen of death.

Some devices might also automatically open the Automatic Repair tool after repeated restart attempts, and in some cases, BitLocker recovery can also be triggered.
“This issue also causes USB and Bluetooth connections to fail in some devices. Hardware connected via USB and Bluetooth, such as keyboards, memory sticks, printers, and wireless mouses, no longer work after installing the update,” Microsoft says in its support page.
According to the company, Windows versions 22H2 and 23H2 are affected, though it is unclear how many users experience these problems. The company says it is currently investigating the issue and will provide an update when it has more information.
For those affected, there is a solution via Known Issue Rollback, which allows reverting a single, targeted fix to a previously released behavior without the need to uninstall the update.
