Apple strikes deal with another tech company to help with its AI

Apple is expected to release its revamped Siri this year. To make this a reality, the company is partnering with another tech giant for assistance in AI development.

Apple and Google have released a joint statement revealing that both companies are now in “a multi-year collaboration,” which should help the iPhone maker to reform its AI offerings.

The two companies agreed that Google’s AI technology will be used to modify Apple’s Siri.

Apple’s much-anticipated AI was first released in 2024. However, users soon began sharing their mistrust of Apple Intelligence and the way it interacts with Siri.

While companies like Google and Samsung continued to roll out their smartphones and other devices with new and advanced AI features, Apple has been working on regaining consumers’ trust in its AI.

It was previously reported that when it came to the Apple Foundation Model, created to focus on its AI platforms, the team had already been going through a rough patch, with its team lead leaving the company and more resignations following.

Now, according to a statement, Apple says that it has “determined that Google's AI technology provides the most capable foundation for Apple Foundation Models and is excited about the innovative new experiences it will unlock for Apple users.”

This isn’t the first deal between Google and Apple, since Google pays the company more than $20 billion every year for its search engine to be the default in Apple products.

The new project brought back a viral moment from 2017, a picture of the Google and Apple CEOs, Tim Cook and Sundar Pichai, spotted having dinner.

While the photo from almost a decade ago reflects a more real side of the business, the deal also hints at what each of the companies gains from this collaboration, notes The Times of India.

Apple has been working to catch up with its AI, which Google has been successfully providing to its users. The search giant now has the opportunity to offer its expertise to Apple consumers.
