Mark Cuban expects an explosion of jobs in the very near future because of AI.
Billionaire American businessman and TV personality Cuban, best known to many for his role on the ABC reality show Shark Tank, doesn’t shy away from sharing his opinions on major issues.
This time, he took to the social media network Bluesky to predict the AI-infused near future. Cuban believes that within the next three years, AI will be everywhere, especially in video format, and people won’t be able to tell AI and real imagery apart. This, Cuban says, will lead to “an explosion of f2f engagement, events, and jobs.”
There’s no arguing that AI is disrupting the job market. A recent report by the World Economic Forum said that half of the economists expect net job losses due to AI in the near future.
“Those who were in the office will be in the field. Call it the Milli Vanilli effect,” Cuban added.
The Milli Vanilli effect refers to a situation in which someone gains popularity and success through deception. It is named after the '90s pop duo Milli Vanilli, who were stripped of their Grammy Award for Best New Artist when it was revealed they lip-synced to pre-recorded vocals.
Within the next 3 years, there will be so much AI, in particular AI video, people won’t know if what they see or hear is real. Which will lead to an explosion of f2f engagement, events and jobs. Those that were in the office will be in the field. Call it the Milli Vanilli effect

There’s certainly a lot of deception around AI. This weekend, we ran a story about how one “AI” company lured investors into investing hundreds of millions of dollars, but it turned out that 700 developers in India actually did AI's job.
We don’t know exactly what Cuban meant, as he didn’t engage in the online discussion he started. Some netizens were not convinced that Cuban wrote the post himself and was not using AI. Many expressed nightmarish visions about the future.
“AI will only be as good or bad as the people who program it. Could you imagine MAGA-type thinking in charge of some portion of it? Based on our current social and political climate, God help us all,” one user posted.
Many agreed that the digital space is becoming increasingly unreliable, and humanity will need to start having more face-to-face interactions to stay real.
The whole discussion is rather grim, with people saying they are happy they’re old and won’t have to live with this for too long, or accepting the fact that AI video content is turning our brains into jello.
“AI is the kind of shit that turns people into Ted Kaczynski,” one user said, refering to infamous Unabomber, a radical anti-technology activist who’s beliefs that technology is disrupting societies led to three deaths and nearly two dozen injuries.
