Best VPNs with a dedicated IP address

Some VPN providers offer dedicated IP addresses along with their regular VPN service subscriptions.

And while a dedicated IP may not be something that you think you need, using one has some advantages: you can make personal websites only accessible to you, avoid denial of service (DoS) errors and never have to prove that you are not a robot again. Besides, having a brand new and never-before-used static IP address is good for your online reputation.

However, very few VPN providers offer quality dedicated IP services, and it can be difficult to find the best for you. But we’re here to help - we compiled a list of the best VPNs with dedicated IPs, so just take a look and choose the one for you.

Best dedicated IP VPNs – our shortlist:

  1. NordVPN – the best dedicated IP VPN
  2. PureVPN – very secure VPN with a dedicated IP
  3. PrivateVPN – has the most dedicated IP locations
  4. Ivacy VPN – affordable dedicated IP VPN

Benefits of using a dedicated IP VPN

While the concept of a dedicated IP might be clear, the actual use case of it might not. So here are a few situations where a dedicated IP might be beneficial:

  • Advanced security. You will be the only person using this IP address, hence the ‘dedicated’ part. With it, you can make websites or host services online that are also only meant for your eyes.
  • Bypass blacklists. When a number of users are trying to watch Netflix while using the same shared IP address, it is very likely that Netflix will blacklist the IP address, and ask you to turn off your VPN. With a dedicated IP, this can be easily avoided.
  • No more CAPTCHA. The little “prove you’re a human” verifications where you have to check which of those nine blurry images contain boats or sidewalks, the ones that make you question if you’re really a human if you don’t succeed – they disappear when you use a dedicated IP address. That’s because the number of requests per minute (or even second) stays on the human level, and doesn’t make you look like a bot.
  • No additional login verification. You know when you’re trying to log into your email or bank account on another device, and then you have to do some additional number matching and clicking on your phone in order to login? A dedicated IP address will remove the necessity for such additional verification processes, as you will be always logging in from the same address and not raising any suspicion.

The best dedicated IP VPNs – our detailed list:

Here's the detailed list of the best VPNs that offer dedicated IPs. Read and find out more about which locations they offer, their speed and unblocking capabilities, as well as security and privacy features and policies.

1. NordVPN – the best VPN with a dedicated IP

Based in:Panama
Dedicated IP countries5
Unblocks Netflix:Yes
Current deal:Get NordVPN with 68% OFF + 3 months FREE

NordVPN is the best VPN that also offers a dedicated IP address. You can choose your dedicated IP to be from one of five locations: the US, the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, and France. While these addresses only cover Europe and the US, they’re still pretty good for those in need of a quality IP address that belongs only to them.

You can get your dedicated NordVPN IP address for $70/year. You will need to purchase a second subscription with a discount code “nordvpndedicatedip” for the dedicated IP after you’ve purchased one for a regular VPN service.

Besides the dedicated IP, NordVPN is also very secure - it uses the ChaCha20 encryption, and additional hash functions for authentication processing. Other security features include a kill switch, the CyberSec feature for safe browsing, and many more. And as for logging, NordVPN has an independently audited and very strict no-logs policy, so your online activities will be visible only to you.

When it comes to speed, NordVPN is recognized as one of the fastest VPNs on the market. Its custom NordLynx protocol, based on WireGuard, delivers some of the best speeds we’ve ever seen.

2. PureVPN – very secure dedicated IP VPN

Based in:British Virgin Islands
Dedicated IP locations:7
Unblocks Netflix:Yes
Current deal:Get PureVPN 82% OFF + 3 months FREE

Another pretty good VPN that also allows you to add a dedicated IP to your subscription. PureVPN offers dedicated IPs in seven locations: the US, the UK, Singapore, Malta, Germany, Australia, and Canada, covering almost all of the continents.

You can get PureVPN’s dedicated IP for $2.99/month – just add it as a feature during checkout when purchasing your regular PureVPN subscription.

In terms of security, it is worth mentioning that PureVPN is a VPN that’s always on audit – meaning that its security measures and logging policy are always under the eye of independent auditors. This VPN provider also uses military-grade encryption and has a kill switch.

When it comes to speed, PureVPN is pretty good in that department, though maybe not as fast as some other top VPNs on the market. However, the WireGuard protocol delivers pretty good results.

And as for streaming, PureVPN is able to unblock streaming libraries in some countries, but if you’re looking for a streaming VPN with a dedicated IP, you might want to consider other options.

3. PrivateVPN – has the most dedicated IP locations

PrivateVPN banner
Based in:Sweden
Dedicated IP locations:9
Unblocks Netflix:Yes
Current deal:Get PrivateVPN, now 85% OFF!

When it comes to VPNs with dedicated IPs, PrivateVPN is a one of a kind provider. You won’t need to purchase a subscription specifically for a dedicated IP, nor make any additional movements. You’ll get to use a dedicated IP in nine locations: Sweden, Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Switzerland, UK, US, and France.

However, there’s a catch – these dedicated IPs are public, meaning that anyone can use them, just not at the same time as you. Once you connect to one of the IPs, you’ll be the only user for as long as you’re connected. But when disconnected, that IP will go to someone else.

Thus, PrivateVPN’s dedicated IPs are slightly different than that of the other providers, and maybe more suited for one-time purposes such as streaming or torrenting.

Besides that, PrivateVPN is a decent service in general – it has customizable security, ranging from pretty weak to very strong, and supports port forwarding. Its speeds are also okay, suitable for most online activities.

And as for logging policy, despite being based in Sweden, PrivateVPN promises to never log any data traffic while you use their service.

4. Ivacy VPN – an affordable dedicated IP VPN

Based in:Singapore
Dedicated IP locations:7
Unblocks Netflix:Yes
Current deal:Get Ivacy VPN, now 88% OFF + gift!

A less known VPN provider, Ivacy VPN is not a lot worse than its counterparts when it comes to dedicated IPs. You can get an Ivacy VPN dedicated IP in seven different locations: the US, Singapore, Hong Kong, Germany, Canada, the UK and Australia. It’s also very easy – just add the dedicated IP option during check out, and for $1.19/month you’ll be able to enjoy a quality service

Besides the dedicated IP services, Ivacy VPN is also pretty secure - it uses military-grade encryption. There is also a kill switch, but unfortunately, it works only on Windows and Android devices.

As for privacy, Ivacy is a no-logs VPN, meaning that it won’t keep records of any of your information. This VPN provider also supports anonymous payments, which just adds to the degree of privacy.

When it comes to speed, Ivacy may not be the fastest VPN out there. It doesn’t have WireGuard, however, it still can retain 40% of the original speed in the best cases. So if you need a VPN that’s very fast, look for some other provider. Nevertheless, Ivacy’s speeds can be sufficient enough for browsing or even streaming.

How we selected and tested these VPNs

Every VPN selecting process is a bit different. Here’s what we looked into when choosing the best dedicated IP VPNs for our list:

  1. Does it offer a dedicated IP? Not all VPNs offer a dedicated IP service, and of those that do, not every single one is good. So for our list, we selected only the best ones.
  2. Security. A VPN must have advanced encryption and authentication. It should also protect your real IP address from leaking.
  3. Speed. Because VPNs generally slow down your internet speed, you need one that is overall fast and won’t interfere with your online activities very much.
  4. Logging policy. Since you will have an IP that will only belong to you, for someone who has a hold of that IP, it would be very easy to track your activities. So it is very important that a VPN has a strict no-logs policy and doesn’t keep records about what any of its users are doing online.
  5. Price. Some VPNs offer a dedicated IP at an additional cost, meaning that you will have to pay a regular VPN subscription, and a dedicated IP subscription. Affordable pricing for both services is thus required.

What is a dedicated IP?

A dedicated IP is an IP address that only one person can connect to via a VPN. VPN providers usually offer dedicated IPs as an additional service at an additional cost.

Using a dedicated IP via a VPN is almost like having your own VPN server – almost. The difference is that VPN providers usually have special servers in a number of locations that host hundreds of different dedicated IP addresses. Thus, all dedicated IP users have their own IP addresses, but use the same server at the same time. This means that a dedicated IP will not necessarily improve your internet speed, because the server load will be virtually the same as with regular VPN servers.

Static vs. dynamic IP addresses: what's the difference?

The main difference between static and dynamic IP addresses is that the static IP always stays the same, while the dynamic IP address changes every time you reconnect.

It is important to note, though, that both shared and dedicated IP addresses can be either dynamic or static. However, shared IP addresses tend to be dynamic most of the time, meaning that you get assigned a new address every time you reconnect, or it just generally periodically changes.

Meanwhile, dedicated IP addresses are usually static.

Disadvantages of shared IP addresses

The opposite of a dedicated IP address is a shared one, and while using a shared IP address has its own benefits, there are some downsides to it as well.

The main disadvantage of using a shared IP address is that you never know what other people might be doing with the same IP, and it can lead to various problems occurring while browsing on the internet. Here are some of them:

  • Denial of service. Someone who’s using the same IP as you might be trying to execute a denial of service attack on Youtube, and then suddenly you get banned from accessing the website as well. Or maybe a streaming service has blacklisted the IP address because another person tried to watch a geo-restricted TV show one too many times, and now you have to reconnect to another server to resume your peaceful watching.
  • Errors. Similarly, but not quite the same as denial of service attacks, some websites can show a “too many requests” error if the same IP address is trying to get to the website a little too hard. Even if it’s not a case of a real DoS attack, the website might perceive it as one, and such errors can be really annoying.
  • Additional CAPTCHAs. Too many requests from the same IP address, while not necessarily resulting in a denial of service or an error, can cause you to constantly need to prove that you are not a bot.

How to get a dedicated IP address?

Getting a dedicated IP address is not very complicated. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide on how to get a dedicated IP:

  1. Go to your chosen VPN’s pricing page
  2. Choose your plan
Choosing dedicated IP plan
  1. From the additional features list, select “dedicated IP

  1. Create an account and select a payment method
Choose payment method
  1. Go to checkout. You now have a VPN with a dedicated IP address.

Note: this how-to guide is the same for most VPN providers that offer a dedicated IP, except for NordVPN. To get a dedicated IP from NordVPN, you’ll have to purchase a new subscription with the discount code “norddedicatedip”. For more info on how that works, visit NordVPNs support page for dedicated IP.

Is using a dedicated IP VPN safe?

Yes, it is safe to use a dedicated IP VPN in the general sense. Your traffic and data still will be encrypted as if using a VPN regularly, your ISP won’t see your online activities, and you’ll be able to bypass geo-restrictions or website blocks in your chosen dedicated IP location.

However, by using a dedicated IP, you’ll lose the high degree of anonymity which using a shared IP gives you.

Sure, the websites that you’re visiting won’t know that it’s you specifically, so you’ll still be sort of anonymous. However, they will see that all these requests are coming from the same IP address and will be able to track you with ads, for example. Essentially, your browsing history from the dedicated IP can still be recorded as if you weren’t using a VPN at all.

Is a dedicated IP VPN worth it?

Having a dedicated IP VPN can be pretty beneficial, especially if you constantly run into problems such as “too many requests” errors, general denial of service from popular websites, or if you repeatedly get asked to check all the blurry images with boats in them in order to prove that you aren’t a robot. Having a dedicated IP will solve all of these problems instantaneously.

Dedicated IP VPNs also are useful for certain security measures. For example, if you have a private website or service that you want to be accessible only by you or select other people, or in order to hide your security camera’s feed, or any other IoT device.

NordVPN is one of the best VPNs that also have a dedicated IP service, and for just $70 a year, you can have an IP address dedicated to you.
