French court to hear case of 25 suspects in attempted crypto kidnapping

Twenty-five people will be brought before a judge on Friday for attempting to kidnap the daughter of a wealthy crypto businessman and for criminal conspiracy, a Paris court reports.

Videos of the brazen kidnapping attempt, which took place in broad daylight on a Parisian street, were filmed and disseminated on social media and showed three masked men wrestling with two people while their getaway van idled nearby.

It was the third violent attack targeting crypto players and their families in recent months.

Additional details reported by Cybernews.com reveal that the targeted individuals were the daughter and grandson of Pierre Noizat, co-founder and CEO of the long-standing French crypto trading platform Paymium.

Eyewitness videos show the dramatic moment when the attackers were repelled by the child’s father and a bystander who hurled a fire extinguisher, ultimately forcing the kidnappers to flee the scene.

Local media reported that the family members sustained only light injuries and were treated in a hospital.

So far in 2024, France has led Europe in the number of crypto-related physical attacks, accounting for 6 of 22 documented cases worldwide.
