Coveron, previously NordProtect, is Nord Security’s identity theft protection service, built to monitor personal, financial, and credit information for signs of fraud, identity misuse, and data exposure. It also includes recovery support and insurance, so it can help both before and after identity theft happens
For US customers looking for identity theft protection, Coveron takes care of dark web leaks, credit and financial monitoring, recovery assistance, and optional cybersecurity tools in one service. In this guide, I explain how Coveron works, outline its main limitations, and show what each plan includes.
What does Coveron do?
Coveron monitors your personal information for signs of identity theft, fraud, and data exposure. If something does go wrong, it can also help with recovery and reimburse eligible losses through its included financial insurance.
Here are the main things Coveron helps with:
- Identity and data monitoring. Coveron watches dark web sources, breached databases, forums, chatrooms, and other online sources for exposed information such as your email, US phone number, and Social Security number. It can also flag data linked to malware on your own device, so you know when the problem may go beyond a leaked password.
- Identity misuse monitoring. Coveron can flag short-term loans, cash advances, and detect criminal records linked to your identity that could signal identity theft. These alerts can reveal a lot of serious fraud where stolen personal information is actively being used to borrow money or deal with law enforcement.
- Recovery and insurance. If identity theft happens, Coveron can assign a recovery specialist to help with creditors, credit bureaus, fraudulent accounts, and stolen documents. Its plans also include up to $2 million in identity theft recovery coverage, with additional protection for certain online fraud, cyber extortion, cyberattacks, and home title fraud.
- Financial account monitoring. With Coveron, you can connect bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial accounts to catch unusual purchases, withdrawals, account changes, or newly linked accounts sooner.
- Credit monitoring and protection. Coveron watches credit file for activity linked to identity theft, including new accounts, hard inquiries, address changes, and account updates. Higher-tier plans monitor all three major bureaus, while users can also lock or unlock their TransUnion credit file and get guidance on placing a full credit freeze when needed.
Overall, Coveron covers both sides of identity theft: spotting suspicious activity early and helping you recover if someone actually uses your information.
Who can use Coveron?
Coveron is available to customers residing in the US, including US territories and the District of Columbia. The only exception is New York residents, who are not eligible for its identity theft recovery and cyber insurance benefits.
Additionally, Coveron is available for users who are at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in their state if that is higher. You need to create your own account and provide accurate personal and billing information to use the service. However, Family plans do cover children under 18. Adult family members create their own linked accounts, while children are added and managed by a parent or legal guardian and do not receive separate accounts.
Some features have extra requirements. Credit monitoring, financial account monitoring, short-term loan monitoring, and credit lock require a valid US Social Security number and successful identity verification. Coveron also notes that some credit features may not activate if there is not enough information in your credit history.
What Coveron plans are available?
Coveron keeps its identity protection plan lineup fairly simple, with three individual plans and two family options. The entry plans cover the basics, while the higher tiers gradually add stronger financial monitoring, more recovery protection, and broader security tools.
