Elon Musk confirmed that “the beams are on” in Iran, on Saturday, June 14th, as the country restricts internet access during growing domestic unrest and military tensions with Israel.
Musk confirmed Starlink’s activation in Iran in response to a post by political analyst Mark R. Levin on X, which highlighted that the satellite internet is now operational despite government restrictions, effectively bypassing censorship

The move from Starlink follows Iran’s communication ministry imposing internet restrictions after Israel launched an offensive on June 13th.
Starlink uses LEO (low Earth orbit) satellite systems, providing internet in remote or censored areas.
It works by beaming internet signals from satellites directly to terminals on the ground, which can be portable or fixed.
Recent locations where Musk has implemented the service include Ukraine and Gaza (for humanitarian purposes).
