
Adidas Turkey confirmed unauthorized access to its systems, which exposed customer details. It’s the second time in less than a week that the German sportswear brand has had its regional systems breached.
Adidas Turkey contacted customers whose data may have been impacted in a recent data breach, Hürriyet Daily News reported. Reportedly, personal customer details such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, and other information were impacted by what looks like a hacker attack.
On May 16th, Adidas Korea also issued a similar message to its customers, with attackers accessing a nearly identical set of Adidas Korea customers’ details. In both cases, the company did not specify what type of attack it was and how many individuals were exposed.
According to Hürriyet Daily News, the Adidas Turkey attack exposed customers who have contacted Adidas customer service. In the case of the attack against Adidas Korea, the breach notification pointed to customer service as well, indicating a global impact on the brand’s customers

In both cases, the company reportedly stressed that financial information and credit card data were not impacted during the systems breach.
Losing personal information increases the risk of cyberattacks. Attackers can utilize the stolen information for identity theft and targeted phishing attacks.
For example, malicious actors could impersonate well-known brands, demanding additional personal details or payments, or coaxing users into revealing more sensitive information.
